Videos

From the moment I got my hands on filming technology, I have been fascinated by videos. As I look back, there are so many silly videos that we made that will never see the light of day. But there are others that I believe are worth sharing even if it’s only to inspire someone else to also be creative with the message of the gospel.

Thoughts for the Week

I enjoy making short devotional videos about God, faith, and life. We make new ones almost every week and share them with our church through social media. To see all the “Thought for the Week” videos, check out the Youtube playlist.

When we choose to follow Christ, the Holy Spirit fills us. We are invited to trust in God and rely on Him for everything. Then why do we so often still try to make in on our own?
I recently read an article in the Canadian Mennonite where Tom Yoder Neufeld said that it was God's fault that there is so much diversity in the Church. It was an interesting perspective, but I think he may be on to something.
I'm not sure if you have a favourite flower, but mine is definitely the sunflower. Why? Because it teaches me something about God and faith. I have learned from the sunflower that as we look at the son, we begin to look like the son.
Christina and Darnell Barkman led a workshop at our Mennonite Church Canada nationwide gathering in July. They equipped us with 4 questions to ask when it comes to doing mission in our neighbourhoods.
Our summer VBS camp is underway! It's already been a great few days and we look forward to the rest. But we wanted to make sure you got a chance to see the church and some of the fun activities going on. Also, we want to share a few of the hopes we have for this week.
Where do you meet God? Sometimes we hope and long for it. But Jesus promises us that when the church gathers in His name, He is there. This past week, I encountered God at our nation-wide gathering. It reminded me that whenever we gather, we can expect God to show up.

Resource Videos

One of my passions is working with people in our church or community to come up with creative ways to share a message. What we do isn’t professional or perfect, but with the kind of technology we have today, anyone can do it. The beauty is that the community gets to see themselves in the videos, making the message even more powerful. I would encourage anyone to give it a shot. It’s a lot of fun!

In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul describes the church as a body. And just like a body has many members that are still part of the same body, the church too is called to be united in its diversity. Ignoring certain parts because they are different isn't an option.
The host at God's table is Jesus Christ who invited us all through grace. As we pass on that invitation, remember that there's always room at the table.
What if social media had an ad on tv in the 1950s? Sure it's silly. But behind it are pretty important questions about how we interact with social media in the 21st century. What do we consider real life? How do we define community? What does friendship mean?
